Dr Fletcher travelled to the UK to take up a Visiting Fellowship at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), within the Participation, Power and Social Change Team. Whilst at IDS, Dr Fletcher presented a seminar on the gap between rhetoric and practice in HIV prevention work in Burma/Myanmar, and began work on a journal article based on the seminar, examining the type of knowledge prioritised in HIV prevention/peer education, and the gap between this type of knowledge and the rhetoric of HIV prevention.
Dr Fletcher also attended The Big Push Forward conference, held at the IDS during her trip. The Big Push Forward is an international development initiative that critiques the way in which a results-based agenda is being implemented within international development, and to promote the practice and assessment of development as transformative practice.
